A Semester Abroad

This blog's first post, its namesake, is to announce that the whole family (me, C, K, and G) have begun planning to spend 4 months abroad doing a collective self-guided 'homeschool' experience. Future posts will go into detail about why we have chosen to do this, where we will be staying, what we will be doing, and all of the planning that goes along with it. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly 9 years since we began planning for our year abroad in the Netherlands. I would not have guessed that it would take so long to get the kids back on European soil but here we are. The opportunity wasn't dropped in our lap like last time so we decided to simply make it happen.

This feels like a ceremonial kicking off of the entire process. As I have mentioned to others before, the most difficult part of the year in Holland was making the decision to go. You simply make it work once that decision is made.

We are anxiously excited. But more excited than anxious.
